Position Summary:

In this position, you will focus on developing features, tools, products, and systems that help enable LTN deliver broadcast-quality video services to its customers.  You will be a part of LTN Transport's development team helping lead the design, implementation, testing, and maintenance of our software systems.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Determine feasibility through problem definition, requirements gathering, analysis, proposing solutions and solution development
  • Determine technical specifications and help lead the design, development, and maintenance of software
  • Develop and maintain features, tools, products, and systems necessary to help power a multi-continent network running highly available services
  • Develop services and software with a focus on correctness, reliability, performance, security, manageability, and observability
  • Document solutions by developing clear and precise documentation, diagrams, code comments, and code


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining production systems
  • Very strong skills in C
  • Python development and testing
  • Experience in programming for distributed environments running across networks
  • Experience in Linux environments and tool chains (e.g. make, gcc, gdb, valgrind, etc.)
  • Experience with common network services and protocols such as IP, DNS, HTTPS, NTP, etc.
  • Ability to share knowledge and teach other team members
  • In-depth and proactive communication and documentation skills
  • Initiative and ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies

Additional Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's, M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science, computer engineering, I.T., or related fields
  • Experience with distributed systems such as messaging middleware
  • Experience with RPC and REST APIs
  • Experience with backend web development
  • Experience with relational databases, SQL, ODBC, etc.
  • Experience with soft or hard real-time systems
  • Experience with IPv6
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Bash and Shell
  • Experience with Elastic Search and Kibana (ELK) stack
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet
  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, etc.
  • Experience with virtualization, containerization, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Experience with Linux system administration

Supervisory Responsibility:           N/A

Work Environment:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers)
  • Travel none
  • Monday to Friday schedule
